Professional MasteryWhen pursuing Professional Mastery, we encourage you to fill in the following blank: "I am a professional ________________ ." By professional, we don't necessarily mean what you are paid to do. In Mastery, being a professional means doing an activity to which you bring knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm. So a human resources manager may be a professional hirer, trainer, negotiator, or any number of other things at work, as well as being a professional parent, coach or neighbor in his/her private life. By making a list of the ways in which you are a professional, you can begin to focus on the Body of Knowledge that you bring to your tasks, and how you can supplement and improve it. Each different way you complete the sentence above brings new and different challenges as you strive to achieve Professional Mastery. Applying Professional MasteryProfessional Mastery challenges you to become a self-directed learner and seek out the knowledge that will help you grow. As you strive to apply Professional Mastery, the following questions may help you along your journey. Choose the ones that apply to your specific situation.
